An annual worldwide simultaneous dance of “Thriller” for world records and charity.
A Tribute to Michael Jackson.
Thrill The World is an annual worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson's “Thriller.” The purpose of Thrill The World is to pay tribute to an album that still manages to cross boundaries and bring people together in celebration. With its great beat, killer choreography, and zombie-filled music video it’s easy to see why “Thriller” is so iconic in pop culture.
Thrill The World is the brainchild of Ines Markeljevic, a choreographer and dance instructor from Ontario, Canada. After reading about another Thriller event she decided that a simultaneous worldwide dance had to happen. Four years on and Thrill The World is still going strong!
In 2008, Thrill The World set a world record for the “Largest Simultaneous Thriller Dance” with 4,179 people from 72 cities around the globe. This year’s event should eclipse that record, due in part to fans wanting to pay tribute to Michael Jackson who passed away this June. Los Angeles was lucky enough to have Michael view their event last year (from a helicopter, because that’s how badarse Michael was!) so Thrill The World is going to continue bringing people together, just as Michael would have wanted.
